Falcon Coffees Join Roast Masters™ at The Milan Coffee Festival 2019

It is with great pleasure that we can today announce a new collaboration with Falcon Coffees, who will provide the single origin green beans used by all of the participants of Roast Masters™ 2019 during The Milan Coffee Festival!

The global green coffee supply company will provide each competitor with the same batch of beans, which this year come from Peru, the third largest coffee producer in South America, where they have set up a sustainability project.

The beans will be used for The Single Origin discipline, as some of Italy’s finest roasters compete across three days for the industry-revered title. In addition to the accolade, the winner will also travel-to-origin, courtesy of Falcon, to discover the farms that are part of this vital project.

Beans picked from Toribio Veg Segrovia, a producer in El Condor in northern Peru

Before Falcon’s support, green coffee was sold to buyers in the area who paid low prices that reflected the market trend on the stock exchange, neglecting the true potential and worth of the farmers’ beans.

Given that most of the producers had neither the training nor tools for effective coffee collection and processing, Falcon decided to help lend their support with a team including agronomist Auber Terrones Rojas, giving rise to a lasting collaboration in several districts of the Cajamarca region, north of the country.

The new work carried out allowed:

• shortening the supply chain, thus making it transparent
• raising the quality of the product by increasing the remuneration of producers and their families
• weave lasting relationships based on trust between roasters and producers.

We’re proud that Roast Masters™ will be an opportunity for Falcon to tell their story and highlight their important work in Peru, to talk about sustainability, and a great opportunity to taste the coffee of the race together!
